A LARGE FAMILY HOME… AND A NOD TO TINTIN
In the heart of the lively village of Cour-Cheverny, a quarter of an hour’s walk from Cheverny Castle, lies a house quite unlike any other…
You may be familiar with Sanzot’s butcher’s shop, whose telephone used to drive Nestor and Captain Haddock round the bend at Moulinsart Castle? You’ll be staying in the very house that inspired Hergé to create this now-famous anecdote.
THE ATMOSPHERE
Behind Le Clos Amarante are Albane, a historian and writer, and Laurent, an illustrator and collector. Having left Paris to write a new chapter in their lives in the Loire Valley, they have designed this large family home as a place for sharing, fuelled by their love of heritage, beautiful things and stories.
The name ‘Le Clos Amarante’ pays homage to Diane de Poitiers, an iconic figure of the Loire Valley, and to the world of Artemis, which has inspired several rooms in the house.
THE SPACES
Spanning 180 m², the property features four large bedrooms, three bathrooms and several living areas that come together to create a unique atmosphere: family heirlooms, antique finds, travel mementos and contemporary comfort.
From the Antiques Room to the English Boudoir, from Artemis’s Lair to Apollo’s Retreat, each room possesses a soul inspired by history, travel and the myths that fascinate Laurent and Albane. A sunny terrace and a landscaped courtyard extend those lovely Loire evenings beneath the fairy lights.
Some pets are welcome by prior arrangement.
THE LIGÉRIEN WAY OF LIFE
Air-conditioned and accommodating up to ten guests, the house invites you to come together and take the time to savour the Ligérien way of life in the heart of the ‘golden triangle’ of the Loire Valley châteaux and the Cheverny AOC vineyards.
Your hosts, who live nearby, will be delighted to share their favourite spots and local gems with you, ensuring your stay becomes a cherished memory that, like amaranth, never fades.
