Loop 7

by @Allersimplevanlife

Adenora had a lovely surprise in store for her mum. Her campervan pulled up at the Château de Chambord to kick off their stay. They headed to the village of Bracieux, just outside the Chambord forest estate, to visit Max Vauché, the region’s most renowned chocolate shop.

After a good night’s sleep at the Huttopia campsite, they hopped on their bikes to explore the surrounding area, following Loop 7 of the ‘Châteaux de la Loire à Vélo’ cycle route. On the agenda: woodland, a majestic lake and typical Sologne villages.

The weekend ended with a visit to Villesavin Castle, a few kilometres from the village where they were staying.

A heritage site well worth a visit otherwise

Discovering the Loire Valley Castles cycle routes is all about embarking on an adventure. Leave your car at your accommodation or travel by train with your bikes. The rest of your holiday will be spent cycling. It’s a manageable adventure for the whole family, with just a few kilometres’ cycle to reach a farm tour, see a pond or visit a château, depending on the day and what takes your fancy.

By setting off on daily day trips in all directions, you’ll have the chance to discover our way of life, at the pace of the local markets and activities. As well as the châteaux, you’ll have explored our countryside and its villages.

Make your walks longer

For the more active among you, the Loire Valley Castles cycle routes are interconnected, so you can create new rides by switching from one route to another and extending your outing as you wish. Each day, you can set yourself a new challenge by varying the distance and elevation gain. The elevation gains are greater north of the Loire, around Veuzain-sur-Loire, in the Cisse Valley.
