SELF-GUIDED TOUR OF CHAUMONT-SUR-LOIRE CASTLE

Set amidst landscaped grounds, the château overlooks the Loire from a height of around 40 metres.
It was once owned by Catherine de’ Medici in 1552 and by her rival, Diane de Poitiers. In 1875, the Princes of Broglie acquired it and transformed it into a truly princely residence.

SELF-GUIDED TOUR OF THE CHAUMONT-SUR-LOIRE INTERNATIONAL GARDEN FESTIVAL

Every year, around twenty teams of landscape designers from across the world present their interpretation of the theme chosen by the estate. Their creations are often original and unexpected, incorporating flowers, materials, water, trees and foliage.

TOUR & TASTING AT THE DOMAINE DE RABELAIS IN ONZAIN

The Chollet estate produces Touraine-Mesland AOC wine, which has held AOC status since 1955.
Winegrowers from father to son since 1720, they own a vineyard situated on the southern slopes of the Loire, opposite the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire.

SELF-GUIDED TOUR OF THE ROYAL CHÂTEAU OF BLOIS

The first ‘must-see’ site in the Loire Valley, the château offers a true panorama of the architecture and history of the Loire châteaux. In the courtyard, the entire chronology of the kings is depicted across the four façades. The colourful, ornate interiors provide a further
insight into the lives of their illustrious owners, such as Louis XII, François I, Henri III and Catherine de’ Medici.

LUNCH AT A RESTAURANT

SELF-GUIDED TOUR OF THE MAISON DE LA MAGIE

Situated opposite Blois Castle in a large bourgeois house dating from 1856, the Maison de la Magie takes you on a journey through the history of the magic arts and traces the remarkable life of Robert-Houdin, who was in turn a clockmaker, inventor and magician.
Magic show in the theatre at 11.15 am, 3.15 pm and 5.15 pm: two magicians present an original production every year.

LEISURE IN BLOIS

The historic centre is well worth a visit, thanks to its royal heritage; the homes of those close to François I are scattered throughout the town, right up to the cathedral district.

SELF-GUIDED TOUR OF THE CHÂTEAU DU CLOS LUCÉ IN AMBOISE

Inhabited by Leonardo da Vinci during the last three years of his life, the house has preserved many of his rooms: his bedroom, his kitchen, his study… It houses 40 of his extraordinary inventions, created using materials from the period: the tank, the first aeroplane, the parachute… The Leonardo da Vinci Garden features 20 of his giant machines, which you can try out.
